Opinion: What Do Joe Rogan & Toto Have in Common?
They both exposed unethical, self-serving bullies.
I'm not all that familiar with Joe Rogan but I've seen a few of his podcasts and think he's being treated unfairly by the woke world in general and CNN in particular. Joe first ran afoul of right-think when he talked about his rapid recovery from Covid using inexpensive medication and suppliments. Afterward it seems a compliation video of Joe using the n-word began to go viral. In response he took it upon himself to make a public video apologizing for that past behavior. That apology is linked here.
I've seen the tightly chopped medley of Rogan's verbal offenses and it seems to be largely comprised of Rogan using the n-word in a narrative…basically telling a story where he quotes what someone said. There seem to be some cases where it was said in the course of a discussion about the taboo of saying the word itself. It is dificult to judge due to the rapid fire pace of the editing, but in general all examples seemed devoid of any anger or hatred. I did locate an unbleeped version if you care to listen to it yourself. The clip is 30 seconds long but does loop so don't be misled about the actual length.
All in all the apology seems to cover the past stupidity and in my opinion, when coupled with his present-day decorum your average reasonable person will wrap it up as a cautionary tale and move on.
But CNN seems to smell blood in the water and thought they could sour a few unware visitors on Rogan with the breathless characterization I captured in the screenshot below. If you are a person who is even slightly informed by CNN on any topic I would like to ask you to view two specific items and consider what they mean in context to each other.
The first is the afore mentioned image below. The second is the personal testimony of someone who knows Joe Rogan. Please look at the image below from CNN’s website. Read both the headline above and the caption below the slightly-less-than-flattering photo of Joe.
Now, before you even hear the testimony, please ask yourself a few questions:
Does CNN really believe the offenses committed are equivilent to the events that happened in Washington DC on January 6th or do you think they may be trying to alarm the reader and create a knee-jerk negitive opinion of Rogan?
Next, is CNN really convinced that Joe Rogan harbors the depth of race-hate that might influence listeners to return to the days of cross burning? If not, could it be that CNN is simply positioning themselves as morally superior to Rogan so that you will trust them and not him for your information?
Do you think that CNN genuinely believes or is concerned about either of those things or is it more likely that they are berating Rogan because he is just a simple guy who happens to produces a daily, low-budget podcast that has earned a viewership and influence many times greater than CNN's multi-billion dollar operation and he is using that platform to create unity and honest conversation between people rather than pit them against each other as CNN does 24 hours a day?
If you do suspect that CNN is disingenuous in these matters do you think they are being genuine in their other reporting or do you think they might have many equally strong biases and financial motivations for the way they report events and if so, what does that say about their opinion of you?
Is it an indication they consider you a smart person who can take straightforward information and form educated opinions from there or do they see you as a chess piece on a game board to be manipulated into feeling, reacting, voting and speaking out in a particular way?
Next, please watch the video linked here. It features professional fighter Israel Adesanya who knows Joe Rogan as a mixed martial arts fighter and as a man. Also remember; if Mr. Adesanya knows this, CNN knows this too. Warning; the language is rough.
Israel Adesanya Defends Joe Rogan
Now, ask yourself…if Mr. Adesanya is a good judge of Rogan's character and Rogan's apology was as genuine as it seems what kind of sick minds are running CNN that they would stoke ongoing division by posting the headline above? Further, if they are that dishonest and vindictive at CNN, are they the kind of individuals you want; whispering in your ear, playing on your insecurities, inflating your sense of moral superiority, shaping your opinions and influencing the actions you might take or interactions you might avoid in trying to reach consensus on the far more important issues we need to solve together?
Just as Toto pulled back the curtain on the phony Wizard of Oz who had been traumatizing his compatriots, Joe Rogan has shown us the inner workings of the self-interested illusionists at CNN. That organization does not want us to come together because the people who own CNN don't want America to heal the divide...our unity does not serve their purposes. And frankly. that's why CNN most definitely…sucks.
